Meet the Owner Amanda Gershman
Amanda is a mom to 2 adorable kids. She lives in New Canaan with her husband and children. Raised in New York, Amanda knows the CT-NY area well, with extensive professional relationships with event vendors. Her friends often joke she was born a planner. Amanda’s passion for event planning and design matches her artistic talents. “Being creative and seeing the vision come to life is my favorite part of the job!”
Outside of event planning, Amanda loves to stay active, taking local dance classes whenever she can, volunteering at her children’s schools, and donating her time to community service initiatives. She loves getting together with friends, trying new restaurants, and traveling when possible. When she is home, she loves to cook and binge-watch anything Bravo.
The Shelby Grey Story
Amanda has long been the event planner for her friends & family. She has planned everything from her wedding to friends’ showers and birthday parties to everything in between. Initially, just a fun hobby, but the pandemic propelled her to harness her passion for event planning, and Shelby Grey Events was born. As more backyard parties popped up, she received more and more requests to help. Personalization of events became increasingly popular, and her clients wanted personalized and custom favors versus the old-school bag of candy. Never one to say no, Amanda’s response is always, “I got that, no problem.”
Why Shelby Grey? Amanda knew that since part of starting this journey came from her passion for kids’ birthday parties, she wanted to name the company after her children. She took her children’s middle names, Shelby & Grey.
